All our plastic cards are covered with a transparent overlay to protect the printing ink on the card. The overlay could be customised but if you are going to use the cards on a magnetic stripe reader or EFTPOS then the thickness of the overlay needs to be controlled. But we can cover the card with a completely transparent overlay or pre-printed with a laser pattern. These different laminating processes will give you the desired finish on the card. 

If the background color of the card is dark, then the matte finish will enhance the grade and look of the design and will look more professional. This finish on dark background will also reduce visibility of the normal scratches on the card surface caused by usual wear and tear.

Have the name of the member embossed to make it more personalised, or just have a unique number. Always good to have some kind of identification method even if you can do with the card/member number. Nothing to loose in having a bar code to future proof it.
